  • I have ordered and paid for my account. When and how can I access it?
    • You should have received an email with your login information for your new shell account. If you haven't yet, please contact support concerning this.
    • Your shell accounts can be accessed via SSH or FTP. Putty is a free ssh program that you can use for this purpose. We do not allow telnet access to shell's due to the insecurity of this method.
  • Why can't I talnet into my account?
    • Telnet is very insecure, this is for your protection.
  • I as assigned an email when I ordered my account, how do I access and use it?
    • Please see the following instructions for setting up your home email client to access your email. Thunderbird is used in this example, but the same procedure should be able to be used in any email client.

        Defining incomeing mail server.
You are now asked to define the user name. Yuor username is the account name assigned to you, and the host name that the email was set up for. This would be either your own host name or droolin.net. Depending on which the email is setup for.
        Defining user name
Now define the name you wish to appear in your folders within your email client. I personally use the complete email address because I have mutiple ones from different host's, but they have the same account qualifier. Ie, droolin@gmail.com, droolin@droolin.net.
        Your clients account name
When you click next, you will now see how everything is setup within your account settings. If something is not correct, do not dispair. You can go to tools/accounts and correct any of the information that is incorrect.

    • You can email support for help in this matter. Only the email address that is on record for the ownership of the account will be assisted.
  • I am use to using CPanel for setting up my webpage, are you ever going to offer this?
    • CPanel is extremely expensive, and the decesion was made to not offer CPanel to keep cost's down. We are currently looking at alternate pannel methods for you to access your web page.
    • Until something else has been found, you will need to use FTP and SSH access to set up your account. If you have any problems, please email support and we will be more then happy to assist you.
  • I keep receiving an email that the number of process's assigned to my account has been exceeded and that the extra ones have been terminated. What does this mean?
    • Each program that you run on your account is considered a process, and each account is only assigned a specific number of process's. If you find that you need more process's for your needs, please contact support and we will work with you on resolving this.
  • I keep receving write error messages on my IRCD, what is causing this.
    • Most times this is caused by your disk space quota being exceeded, and there no longer being any more space allocated for your program/IRCD to write to. This is often caused by excessivly large log files using all your space. Check the log files in your variour folders, and delete what is not needed. This should resolve this issue.
    • If you find that you need more space, please contact support and we will try to find a resolution for you.
  • Is the information that I enter into the various forms on this site secure?
    • Yes, we use SSL encryption on every form that we ask for any personal information. Security is very important to us here at Droolin's Shell hosting. Please see our Privacy Statement.
  • When I try to ssh into my account, I receive an error message stating that connection is refused. I used ssh.droolin.net to log in, what is going on?
    • Droolin's Shell Hosting has a very aggressive firewall policy which will automatically firewall anyone that exceeds a certin number of logins that fail. If you are also unable to connect to your server with the same type of error message, then this is most likely the reason you are receiving the connection refused error message. Send an email to the alternate support emmail with ip specifics from the origional email account used to acquire the shell. The alternate support email is: support.droolinnet @ gmail.com. If you are still able to connect to your IRCD, then please contact our staff through our contact's pannel and we will assist you in resolving this issue.
